Vrbo Fee Calculator

Vrbo’s pay-per-booking commission applies to the rental amount and any fees you charge guests, but not to taxes, refundable deposits or the traveler service fee. Enter a booking to see the commission, any payment processing or VAT, and what reaches your bank. The 12% rate is prefilled from Vrbo’s help centre and can be changed if your dashboard shows a different rate.

Platform information verified: November 2026 · Vrbo commission is 12% of the rental amount plus host-charged fees for most hosts, including payment processing when Vrbo processes the payment. Source: Vrbo Help – About the pay-per-booking model

How it works

Subtotal = (nightly rate × nights) + cleaning fee + other host fees
Commission = subtotal × commission rate
VAT/GST = commission × VAT rate
Own-processor fee = (subtotal + taxes) × processor rate
Payout = subtotal − commission − VAT − processing fees

Taxes are collected from the guest and passed on, so they aren’t part of your earnings. The traveler service fee is paid by the guest to Vrbo and isn’t in the calculation. All fee rates live in one place on this page so they can be updated when Vrbo changes them.

How to read your results

Compare with your other channels. On the same booking, a 12% Vrbo commission and Airbnb’s 15.5% host-only fee leave different payouts. If you list on both, check whether your channel pricing reflects that.

Watch your processor costs. If you connect through software and use your own payment processor, its fees come on top of the 12% commission.

Use your dashboard rate. Some regions and plans have different rates. If yours differs, change the commission field and the rest updates.

Illustrative example

A 4-night stay at $220 with a $150 cleaning fee has a $1,030 subtotal. At 12% with Vrbo processing the payment, the commission is $123.60 and the estimated payout is $906.40. At 30 similar bookings a year, that’s about $3,708 in Vrbo commission.
